2025 Ford Mustang Ready for the Upcoming Launch

There are still a lot of rumors about the 2025 Ford Mustang that it’s hard to tell which one is true and which one is only the rumor. Although there are several sources claiming that the upcoming 2025 Mustang Shelby S650 is caught in the testing stage, it’s been unclear about the ‘future’ of the vehicle itself. Is it going to be the electric version, half electric type, or will Ford still be offering the regular pony model with its punchy gas powered unit?

The Updated Plan

Rumor has it that Ford is giving their last go for their seventh gen Mustang. It means that the upcoming 2025 Ford Mustang would likely be designed as a front engine model with rear wheel driving system. The powertrain would be the ‘regular’ type that you can find within the typical pony muscle ride. Not to mention that there have been several spy shots of the suspected Shelby in the testing stage. Many are wondering whether it would be the GT500 or Shelby GT.

The Spied Model

Ford is said to have a testing stage for their new Mustang S650 version. As you can guess, it is still wearing camo, but you can tell from the lines that it’s definitely the new pony. From the looks of the lower fascia and grille, it’s inspired from the S550 GT350, which was popular for its V8 Voodoo unit with 5.2 liter capacity (from the sixth gen). You can also tell from the vented hood and somewhat aggressive riding height that it’s created as the sharper pick than the GT. Many even said that it’s the unlikely successor of the GT500. It looks more suitable for GT350’s successor.

The Future of Shelby

The company plans on incorporating Shelby within their Mustang S650 lineup, but it’s still not yet. According to their plan, Ford may focus on the GT line with its V8 and EcoBoost unit. Not to mention that they will start their sales for (all new) Dark Horse variant, which is designed as a performance vehicle, so Ford really does have their hands full. Considering that they aren’t really planning on launching the Mustang soon, they may set it aside and focus on other crucial matter first.

What about the spied testing vehicle? It can be just about anything. There’s no guarantee that it would be the Shelby S650. Not to mention that the spyshots can’t really confirm whether the ride comes with natural aspiration or force induction type.

So, will Ford make Shelby Mustang, anyway? Reports have indicated that a new Shelby GT500 is on process for the 2025, but it’s been unclear whether there would be one for the S650. Moreover, the GT500 is being prepared for 2025 launch, which would be set as the seventh generation of the pony and it would be released in 2026. It means that it’s highly likely that the Mustang 2023 and 2024 would be offered without the Shelby.

Powertrain and Performance

Although the Shelby would likely be absent from the current model’s launch, it doesn’t mean that you would end up with lame and lousy vehicle. Ford is still offering some V8 unit. For example, the GT line would be running on Coyote unit with its 5.0 liter capacity, able to generate 486 hp.

And let’s not forget about the Mustang Dark Horse that is designed as Mach 1 S550 and also GT350’s successor. But until now, there hasn’t been any information whether the line would include any supercharged option. The last one having forced induction was 2022 Mustang GT500 that was running on V8 unit of 5.2 liter, able to generate 760 hp. Until we get further confirmation about 2025 Ford Mustang, we can’t really tell for sure.
