Although the vehicle hasn’t been manufactured, it has been making achievements. It won Car Design Award 2022 as the best concept ride. Despite the fact that it competed against Audi Skysphere, Polestar O2, Lexus Electrified Sport, and Porsche Mission R, it excelled all of them due to the impeccable design.
For those FJ fans, they can see the obvious similarities between the concept and the discontinued FJ Cruiser, including the box shaped body, flat roof, big windows, and the upright A pillars. It seems that the Compact Cruiser gets inspirations from both Land Cruiser (the first gen) and also FJ Cruiser. It’s likely that the FJ Cruiser would be reborn in the form of smaller (but tough) form and with different nameplate.
Release Date and Price
If everything goes as planned, the Compact Cruiser should be ready at dealerships in 2023, around fall. Or, if there is a delay, it may take place at the very early of 2024. Toyota may not provide the details for now, but speculations have pointed that there would be 3 different trims being offered, the XLE, LE, and also Limited. For the price, it’s most likely starting at around $35,000.
