There have been rumors stating that Beemer is busy working on their future 2024 BMW M5 currently. Some spy shots have been found on the net and they seem to have electrified powertrain and seemingly ready production body. It’s safe to say that they have the advanced prototype in the making. It means that the new M5 is no longer on a mule anymore; expect it to be ready with the prototype body. If you have been looking closely on their production stages, you will see that this new ride is completely different from the previous model.
The Design and Layout
The previous prototypes were said to be based loosely on the (regular) 5 Series body, which is modified and altered to meet the modifications and requirements required by the performance area. The new vehicle focuses more on the function instead of design and aesthetic appeal, so the prototype has tacked on fender flares. Other elements look like they are being attached by using hardware stores tools, instead of the auto sections.
If you take a look on the prototype, it has wider fender flares, fitting the body proportion better than ever. The matching side sills are also coming in a set. The front grille is definitely bigger and open, showing off the inserts having similarities to M4 CSL from Beemer. The headlight set seems like the one going to production mode, which makes them serious and menacing.
According to some sources, the big fenders are purposely designed to help the engineers in BMW M install bigger wheels along with massive brakes and also stickier tires. The suspension would be different, especially from the existing design on M5. The steering rack would be different from the one that is usually installed on M5, creating a refreshed look for the ride.
For the front doors, there is a written sticker Electrified Vehicle, which likely means that the vehicle won’t only run on battery but also high voltage electronics. For the interior cabin, expect to find many M logos along with iDrive 8 technology.
