It’s pretty clear that 2024 GMC Acadia is on its way to production, but some of the details are still shady. Although the vehicle has been spotted several times going through the testing stage, not all of the information has been laid out clearly and thoroughly. It should be interesting to learn what kind of improvement the company has made along the way.
The Physical Changes
The future Acadia has been caught going through testing stage on public roads, still wearing the camo, so it gives us a better view of the future upsized crossover. According to some sources and information back then in August 2020, the new GMC Acadia GT Twin Turbo would be bigger than the current model. Designed as the third generation, the crossover would undergo a completely different offering, especially in the full size sector. It means that the 2024 GMC Acadia Denali would go back to the original formula.
In reality, when Acadia was launched in 2007, it was designed as a full size crossover with three row layout. But then in 2017, the vehicle was scaled down, becoming the midsize ride for its second generation. It seems that the company has a change of heart again, deciding to bring back the original size to the production. Since the 2024 model year is created to be the third generation, the vehicle ‘grows’ bigger in dimension.
Layout and Design
It’s safe to say that the new 2024 GMC Acadia interior would have longer wheelbase, providing more space for the cabin. It should be enough to accommodate three row layout, giving more space to the third row and also the cargo area. If the Acadia is poised to compete against solid names like the Palisade (from Hyundai), then they should seriously think about their arrangement.
The spotted camo prototype might be heavily covered, but there are some quite visible and obvious designs of the ride. For a starter, the crossover comes in a boxy style, including more upright stance. This kind of style and design seems to be inspired from GMC SUV, the Yukon. If you see the images clearly, you will also see two tone finish and multi directional design, which is completely new. On the back area, the ride has dual exhaust with the rounded tips.
The new Acadia may likely constructed on the versatile (GM) VSS-F set that is also used for Chevrolet Trailblazer and Buick Encore GX crossovers. This kind of architecture has front drive and modular system with transverse engine construction.
Powertrain and Performance
In terms of powertrain, the GMC Acadia 2024 will likely run on gas V6 LGX unit with 3.6 liter capacity that is paired up with auto 9 speed transmission. It will also comes as front wheel driving system as the standard option, with four wheel driving system for the optional pick.
Aside from the main powertrain, the crossover will also be offered with economical type, the gas inline four turbocharged unit with 2.0 liter capacity. Another option, gas inline four turbocharged unit with 2.7 liter capacity is also being considered. Details about the output and the specs haven’t been known, but we should know more once everything is available.
2024 GMC Acadia Release Date
If everything goes as planned, the production stage should take place at the company’s Lansing Delta Township manufacturing plant located in Michigan. Up until now, it’s unclear when the launch should take place, but it’s predicted that it would happen some time in 2023. For the price, it’s unknown either. Considering that this is a completely redesigned project, involving the extra length and dimension, the price may be different from the 2023 GMC Acadia GT Twin Turbo. We should know more about 2024 GMC Acadia once the official release has been set.
