2024 Hyundai Santa Fe and the Earlier New Generation Lineup

The upcoming 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe would be coming as the fifth gen, and no longer in the fourth gen lineup. It seems that the fourth gen production (which debuted in 2018) has shorter lifespan than the original plan. The reason for the company to release the fifth generation Santa Fe immediately is to restore the vehicle’s popularity. Among the many changes that it would incorporate is the possibility of hybrid power, both the plug in hybrid as well as hybrid versions.

Design and Layout

To prepare the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, the company provides a comprehensive transformation. Known as Hyundai MX5, this fifth gen would be coming as a big SUV, unlike the current Santa Fe meant to be a semi-big vehicle. For the upcoming generation, expect the Santa Fe to be bigger, creating an obvious distance from the Tucson.

According to some spy shots, the upcoming Santa Fe may likely come with a more traditional SUV style with boxier stance. With straighter roofline and squarer rear windows, the SUV somewhat looks like the old school SUV (in a good way, of course). The windows design is similar to the one you find on Discovery 4 and Defender from Land Rover.

Interior Cabin

The new Santa Fe is expected to have a more upscale design. When compared to the smaller Tucson, the one implemented on Santa Fe would be more interesting. The dashboard would be sleeker with integrated AC vents, bigger infotainment system, and also cleaner console with bridge type model. Not only it would be more modern and sophisticated, but it is also more luxurious. Space is also generous for passengers as well as cargo.

Powertrain and Performance

It’s highly likely that the new Santa Fe may still be using the same powertrain as the current model. It means that it would be running on TGDI hybrid with 1.6 liter capacity and also plug in hybrid system. Improvements are definitely needed, but to replace these electrified powertrains would need time. The current plug in hybrid and hybrid system are able to generate 261 hp and 226 hp. The plug in hybrid version is coming with 13.8 kWh pack that covers 30 miles of electric range. For all electric model, Hyundai has prepared the Ioniq 7 which is designed as an SUV with 3 row seating arrangement.
