It seems that the future 2024 Ford Fiesta would be the last model production of the company, before they decided to cut it off and focus more on the electrified vehicle. This is also a year earlier than their original plan. According to some sources, the Cologne manufacturing plant would be the place where the new electric rides would be manufactured, starting from summer 2023.
Design and Construction
According to the updates, the crossover would be constructed with the MEB electric platform that is coming with VW Group. This is the same platform that has been used by VW ID.4 – along with other models from the company. This switching plan is guaranteed not to affect any staffing levels. In fact, the company assures that there would be more jobs being open and offered in Cologne once the production starts. There would be more openings and opportunities available in the future than the current state.
The Fiesta was first launched in 1976 for European market. It has become one of the most popular models, especially in that particular market. However, sales numbers have been decreasing and not as high as before. It’s because the market’s trend who prefers crossovers (instead of hatchbacks).
