Beemer has already formed their own plans concerning their future 2024 BMW X1. This strategy is implemented so that their smallest SUV category is no longer absent from the business. Moreover, they already have their own plans concerning the design and style of the new X1, so it should be interesting to know what they have in mind.
The Updated M Lite Variant
The 2024 BMW X1 is planned to undergo full redesigned project, and the prototype vehicle has been spotted undergoing several testing stages around the popular Nürburgring track. It’s reported that the Bavarian auto manufacturer is busy focusing on their ‘baby’ performance SUV, wanting to improve its overall performance and sales value. Although it’s unclear about their plan for the ‘regular’ X1, some of the spy shot images of the M35i prototype have been seen with light camo, which reveals somewhat more aggressive (and also catchier) bodywork. Not to mention the SUV will be coming with the same powerful engine that won’t discourage the brand.
The M35i prototype vehicle has been seen going through testing stage since 2021, especially in the Northern Sweden. It’s quite unusual that the regular X1 hasn’t been even revealed as attention is highlighting the M lite X1.
The Exterior Design
Because of the heat, the company has decided to drop some of the cover, especially the ones on the front. From the look of it, the M35i has interesting body work. It comes with sportier-looking (and somewhat more angular) front bumper design, along with angular brake cooling vents and broader intake grille. It simply enhances the sporty look and appearance.
If you check the upper area of the front fascia, you can see that Beemer includes their signature style of LED headlights and (colossal) kidney grilles. It seems that Beemer has added tons of aggressiveness, which is a good thing because the early version of the X1 has missed it.
Powertrain and Performance
Despite quite ‘dramatic’ updates on the exterior and interior, not so much would be happening under the hood. It seems that the X1 M35i would be running on inline four turbocharged unit with 2.0 liter capacity. What about hybrid power? There is a possibility of such powertrain, with increased power and speed. The company hopes that the hybrid may be able to generate 350 hp and 330 Nm of torque. It’s most likely that it would be paired up with 8 speed torque converter together with xDrive system.
